buffalo and egret
Water buffalos Water buffalos are seen all over southern Asia. They are adapted for life in wetlands so they are extensively used to work in paddy fields and to pull carts. Egrets are white wading birds with long sharp beak, tall skinny legs and a elegant S shaped neck they love to live around water buffalos and some of them even perch on top of them looking for the insects stirred up.


Rajah Brooke's birdwing considered by some to be the world's most beautiful butterfly, was first described in the 1850's by the well-known naturalist, Alfred Wallace who named it after James Brooks, the Rajah of Sarawak from 1841 to 1868. Picture taken in the Cameron Highlands (Malaysia)
